Jocelyn Bailey

Jocelyn Bailey

Jocelyn is a freelance editor who specializes in fiction, nonfiction, and academic projects. While working on her MA in English at Boston College, she began her first publishing internship at Beacon Press, where she was happy to be paid in books. After graduating, she joined the fiction division of Thomas Nelson Publishers (now part of HarperCollins). In 2015 she earned a PhD in English from the University of Arkansas.

After another tenure at HCCP as an acquisition editor of fiction, she returned to freelancing for publishers, individuals, and businesses needing a developmental editor, copyeditor, proofreader, copywriter, or editorial manager. She has loved working on books by Lysa TerKeurst, Mario Escobar, Rachel Held Evans, Mandisa, Sean Dietrich, Jen Hatmaker, and so many other talented writers.

Her goal is to preserve each author’s unique voice while guiding every idea and detail into place, and her academic background makes her especially useful for writers in need of research help, manuscript preparation, citation assistance, and formatting. Likewise, her experience as a college-level instructor of writing and literature gives her a keen understanding of audience and technique. She currently splits her time between Nashville and Chattanooga.
