Erin Healy

For nearly 30 years, Erin Healy has actively helped writers bring their heartfelt stories to life on the page and in the minds of readers. Specializing in crafting fiction and narrative nonfiction, she has been praised by publishers, editors, and authors for her ability to align storytellers’ visions with readers’ felt needs. Making this connection is the goal at the heart of her editorial philosophy.

Erin assists authors with customized guidance, working in tandem with publishers to achieve stated goals. She identifies and supports individual creative processes, suggests constructive writing habits and methods, troubleshoots obstacles, and offers feedback to sharpen themes, define scope, and address gaps. She teaches time-tested principles of story craft to achieve maximum impact on readers. When requested, she collaborates as a writer.

Prior to becoming a freelancer and coach, Erin was a senior editor for WaterBrook Multnomah (a division of Penguin Random House). She has taken contracts from HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Hachette Book Group, and others. A few of her clients include New York Times bestselling novelists Ted Dekker and William Paul Young; USA Today bestselling novelists Colleen Coble and Rachel Hauck; and memoirists Tammie Jo Shults (Nerves of Steel), Remi Adeleke (Transformed), and Rebecca Bender (In Pursuit of Love). Erin spends about half of her time coaching never-published authors who plan to seek representation or publish independently.

“Erin Healy’s ability to collaborate with, communicate with, and coach authors with both purpose and empathy is simply unparalleled. Writers adore working with her, and the results Erin produces are exemplary. She is quite simply the most gifted and effective collaborator I have had the opportunity to work with.”
—Daisy Hutton, vice president and publisher, Hachette Nashville

“Erin is a rare talent and a triple threat: a terrific editor, writer, and collaborator. I hired Erin to help edit my top-shelf authors. I recommend her without hesitation. She is one of the very best in the industry.”
—Ami McConnell, former editor-in-chief, Howard Books (Simon & Schuster)

“Over the last ten years I have worked with a number of content editors and no one comes close to the work ethic, relational sensitivity, and conceptual brilliance as Erin Healy. Iron sharpens iron, if the angle is right, and with Erin, the angle has always been right. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.”
—Wm. Paul Young, New York Times bestselling author of The Shack and Eve
