Let’s not bury the lede. Blake Atwood was an early developmental editor on Atomic Habits by James Clear. More recently, he was Jefferson Fisher’s book coach for The Next Conversation. Both were New York Times bestsellers.
In addition to nonfiction developmental editing and book coaching, Blake also provides collaborative writing and book proposal development.
In the Christian market, Blake helped Dr. Ken Wilgus discover his writing voice in the first edition of Feeding the Mouth That Bites You, an insightful guide on parenting teenagers into adulthood. This self-published book was eventually acquired by Focus on the Family and republished in an updated second edition.
Blake also collaborated on The Father Effect by John Finch. In this FaithWords book, Finch shares how he lost his father to suicide, how that affected his relationship with God, and how a father’s absence doesn’t have to result in a life without God as your Father.
Blake specializes in prescriptive nonfiction but has also collaborated on memoirs.
Simply put, he wants to help authors who help others.
“Above and beyond what I needed in a book coach. If you’re looking for someone to roll up their sleeves and be there with you, it’s Blake.” —Jefferson Fisher, The Next Conversation
“I could never have finished my first book without Blake’s heavy developmental editing help. In fact, my self-published book was so well received that a traditional publisher contacted me to create a second edition.” —Dr. Ken Wilgus, Feeding the Mouth That Bites You
